Evaluation Question 1;

In terms of my digi-pak I used the following research;

From this research I can see that my conventions of a main image of  my artist is key; However I have broken/challenge the forms and conventions as I have not used the stereotypical convention of a front facing shot of my artist, I decided I wanted to stick the aspects of my artist being mysterious and the factors of him not really being him self. I conventional stuck with a colour scheme that interlinks with my video.
One of the key things I would change if I was to have the time would be to place a slogan/plug on the front cover of my album stating that "Happy Little Pill" is the featured song. As this is conventional to most Album covers.

As you can see on the 3rd slide of my slideshare, there are quiet a few black and white themed album covers and I therefore feel that I have filled my conventions by sticking to a colour scheme. Also if you move onto slide 4 you can see that the black and white theme connotes the darker side of a personality and it helps to build upon and portray the negative feeling that I am trying to build upon.

Evaluation Question 3;

As stated in my audience feedback video my audience mentioned that all three of my products appeal to my target audience. The audience from my video feedback mentioned that there is the strong narrative in which shows the clear message of drug use/abuse. This audience understood that my piece was to promote drug awareness and they understood that it was aimed at their peers in terms of target audience.

They said that there is clear continuity throughout all of my products as well as 'interesting edits' such as the slow motion pills, also in reverse, I found this to be a powerful shot within .my piece as this feedback was also backed up in the surveys that I had created for my video.
One of my surveys taken from a younger class mentioned  that they was unsure about some of the close up shots of the cuts however they stated that it didn't look realistic however I personally disregarded this feedback as they cut was a real cut in which my actor had done at his work place, I was originally planning fake blood etc however didn't need to therefore I decided to note this feedback but disregard it as a point of improvement.
When conducting my audience feedback, I  decided to look at Stuart Hall's Reception Theory,

  1. dominant ideology - Agreeing with the producer/industry & ideology of the product – the audience view the media text in the way that the producer intended e.g. a hand bag looks shiny and new therefore encourages the female to buy the hand bag. Reasons why people may agree can be that they are from the same background/culture, they are of the same age, the narrative is easy to understand and the text is relevant to the audience’s society.
  1. negotiated ideology - Agreeing with the producer/industry in some respect but may have their own ideology of the product   – the compromise between the dominant and the oppositional readings, the audience accepts the views of the producer but also has their own input and understanding in relation to the text. Reasons why the audience may want to change the text: different life experiences, don’t understand the narrative and theirs ages may vary.
  1. oppositional ideology - disagree with the producer/industry & ideology of the product  – the audience rejects the preferred reading and creates their own reading of the text. They don’t agree with the messages created for the audience. Reasons why the audience may disagree: the text is too controversial, the audience may disagree with the meanings, the audience may not like the genre, the audience my not understand the narrative and the text may not reflect society accurately.

After looking and analysing my feedback results , I feel I have created a successful product that would sell in the Indie/pop market.

This Theory applies to my music video and audience feedback because my audience chose the dominant ideology which is where they personally agree with my ideology and narrative they agreed with me in my choices during the editing process and they agree and take on the connotations that I created through mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing and sound.

Evaluation Question Four:

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
